Unusual December Storm
12/16/2021 (Permalink)
Just days ago, we were hit with 6 inches or more of snow throughout much of northwestern Wisconsin. Yesterday and into this morning, we experienced MUCH different weather! The weathermen were predicting dense fog and unseasonably warm temperatures during the day, thunder storms and lighting going into the evening, followed by high winds and possibly tornadoes.
As reports have been coming in throughout the day today, we have been seeing plenty of damage from high winds and tornadoes to homes and other buildings, vehicles, trees and powerlines. Areas are still without power. There were four tornadoes confirmed near Stanley, WI, Neillsville, WI, Rudd, IA and Lewiston, MN. This was Minnesota’s first ever recorded confirmed tornado in the month of December. Wisconsin’s first confirmed December tornado occurred 51 years ago when four tornadoes occurred in east-central Wisconsin on December 1, 1970, according to WEAU news.
Our thoughts are with everyone that has been affected by this unseasonable storm. SERVPRO of Barron, Dunn & Rusk Counties is available 24/7 to assist with storm damage. 715-643-7171
