Is Your Home Accurately Inventoried?

Whether you are looking at getting new insurance, experienced a fire or water loss, a vandalism or break in, it is so important to have an accurate inventory of your home. Having an accurate inventory can help you purchase the right amount of insurance to make sure everything is covered but that you aren’t overpaying. It can also make filing a claim easier. Most people can’t remember what they have stashed away in their attic, kitchen cabinets or their over-stuffed storage room on a normal day but especially after a disaster like a fire or water loss.
An easy way to start inventorying is to simply walk through your home and take a video or photos of each room. There are also free forms that can be found online and apps to help you create a detailed inventory list. Just remember, don’t get overwhelmed and stick with it! An incomplete inventory is better than no inventory at all.
